SyncBack SE

SyncBack SEWhy would you ever want to sync two folders? Well, here are some scenarios.

  • You’re writing an ebook and you sometimes use on your desktop, sometimes you write on your laptop. You’d rather not keep two copies of the same file/folders.
  • For backup purposes. Maybe you’re just tired of manually copying the files from your computer to the external drive and want to automate it.
  • You have RoboForm on your computer and on your phone. The only way to make sure the phone records are up to date is to remember to copy the files to the phone regularly and you’d rather put it on auto pilot

That’s what I use SyncBack SE for. Mostly backup to the external drive (Yes I have a 2nd backup plan with Mozy) and to keep RoboForm data updated on my phone. It’s a great help and I am not even using the rest of SyncBack’s features.

Syncback SE can also help me automatically upload files to my web site at a scheduled time. Think about it. What if you tell people that web page will change at 12PM on March 31st because that’s when the order form will go live or a new video/audio/freebie will be released. You don’t have to do it yourself. You can let SyncBack do the job for you while you enjoy your family or other commitments. Of course this only works if the page is a static HTML one.

Here’s another nice thing about SyncBack. Besides uploading files automatically, it can also download from an FTP source all automatically. You can backup all or some of your web site folders with it. You’ll have to do more work to backup the database though.

While SyncBack SE is sold as a backup solution, I look at it as an automated way to help me move, copy and keep files and folders in check. I’ve been using it for a few years and been a happy camper. Download the trial version by clicking the button below.
