Outsourced My Billing Today
Sent time sheets and detailed instructions to my assistant. At the beginning of this year, I outsourced book keeping. There was a huge sigh of relief after that and I feel the same relief again today. I’m so not an accounts person. I can manage our family finances very well – doesn’t mean I like to. Wish that one can be outsourced 😉
The book keeping part is turning out nicely. I get to see timely reports and have a better sense of how I’m doing every month. The best part is, I can see now how far I am from annual goals and if I need to ramp up the efforts or cruise along for a while. Before, I was afraid to and never quite know the profit and loss until months later – super bad.
The other side of the accounts is billing. I love working but billing ugh. It sounds so very weird doesn’t it? I mean after all that’s what we work hard for – $$. So now that billing is out of my hands I can concentrate on giving our clients the better service and more regular invoicing they deserve.
Initially, I thought I’d just give my assistant a limited access login to PayPal but what I really don’t like about PayPal, even though they can only do certain things, they can still see the incoming and outgoing transactions. Something that does not appeal to me.
That’s why, I set up Zoho Invoice. We’ll see how it works. I don’t need time tracking and other fancy features. Just invoicing with PayPal payment link that was an important requirement. Seems pretty straightforward and simple for my assistant to work with.
I’m still discovering every week what can be delegated to my assistant, intern, resident programmer, writers and other team members to do. It may sound easy but you’ll be surprised how stumped you can be when stare at your screen trying to think of what you can delegate. Feel the same way? Allow me to suggest this free MP3 and audio from Outsourcing Sweetie to help. Bet you’ll get lots of aha!’s from it.

For me Zoho Invoice is too bulky. After trying out several apps I finally settled with CurdBee(http://curdbee.com).It’s much simple and didn’t overwhelm me with fancy features

@Mike: Thanks for the input. I have come across CurdBee once. I’m still in the experimental stages and since it’s kinda my business to test things out. I’ll run with Zoho for a little while.

Zoho is cool, you can do recurring invoices which you cannot do with PayPal! Awesome. Thanks for sharing that great resource. 🙂 I am testing it out this month too. 🙂
