Why Pay For Hosted Blogs?
When people ask this, it’s usually not as a question but more like a statement. This is probably repeated, but I’ve as far as possible opted for ‘owned’ software not hosted with monthly fees. But this is again back to the age old question for everything else. Should I do it in house , myself or have someone else do it? Bottom line – hosted means all you have to worry about is blogging. Keeping things going, the important stuff. Scripts mean you have to do it or pay for someone to do it. In the end you’re paying out anyway.
I’ve got countless WordPress installations accross many domains. Updating is not my favorite thing on the to do list and good reliable people who understand how to install scripts, update them without messing up your database are difficult to find. It’s time’s like these TypePad, Blog Harbor or SquareSpace don’t look so bad. At least they’ll let you concentrate on what really matters – building that relationship, great content and your expert status.
