Why Blog For Business?
I can tell you plenty of reasons but, it’s not up to me and what I think. Some people like statistics and ‘proof’ including myself they are a nice reminder why we keep blogging and keep starting new blogs. A new report from Comscore sponsored by SixApart and Gawker Media, titled Blog Readers Spend More Time and Money Online certainly caught my eye.
The report says blog readers read more pages online and thus time. That’s ok news, not earth shattering. One thing that pops in my head is why? Maybe because they crave content or they crave interaction? Too bad the report doesn’t go as far to say how much they interact or comment on the blogs they visit.
In the first quarter of 2005, less than 40 percent of the total Internet population made online purchases. By contrast, 51 percent of blog readers shopped online. Blog readers also spent six percent more than the average Internet user
Now this I find absolutely interesting. As marketers, we want people to visit our site (or blog), read and buy or click. But, that’s not going to do us any good if they don’t have money to buy right? So… why should you blog? Because you get the chance to reach a target who not only spends more but able to spend more.
