What Free Software Can I Use To Learn Photoshop
To a point, Photoshop® has become a verb. This is confusing for many newbies which will account for my strange title. Because of this misconception, people are led to believe there is a free Photoshop® out there when what they are really looking for is a free image editor software to learn how to edit their images.
PhotoShop® is not an action or series of actions but a registered brand name for an image editing software by Adobe®. Photoshop® is not free it’s very expensive as a matter of fact but there are many open source options that work just like Photoshop®. I use Paint.net you can get it from http://getpaint.net it is free and works very well. There is also a very active forum with tutorials you can learn to make some pretty cool things.
If you are on Mac or Linux might want to try Gimp. Gimp also works on Windows but you have to have additional software I find that is huge waste of resources.
If you’re looking for a list of free image editors, subscribe to my newsletter. I am putting the finishing touches on my new free resource book 170 Free Tools You Can Use To Build Your Business. I’ll send it to my subscribers when that is complete.

This is so what I needed. My son is into this stuff and I’m going to download it for him. Thank you so much!!!
Lynette,
also a cost effective means of manipulating pictures are the old versions of Photoshop Elements. I am still using version 4 (now about 4 or 5 years old) with great success. In my experience the newer programs cause way too much systems load and are overloaded with features you only rarely use.
@Santa: Thanks for the suggestion, I’m sure some of our readers will find that helpful.
@Felicia: That’s great! I’m not sure how old your son is but for little kids you might want to take a look at this.
