Sometimes it’s not about knowing the right technologies to use e.g. Oh Web Conferencing is cool let’s set up a web seminar tomorrow; but it’s how you use it.
If you’re web conferencing or thinking about it, remember, the basic principles of presentation and public speaking still stand. I’ll be the first to admit I need help and am not afraid to say it. But like my friend Alice says, the first step is to admit you have a problem :-).
When you’re web conferencing or even tele conferencing, you can’t always ‘feel’ your audience because you can’t (always) see their expression. This sometimes can lead to a more nervousness than speaking to a in-person audience.
The good thing is, in a web conference room, you can quickly get feedback via the text chat area without opening up the line. And in some systems you have video conferencing option. TechRepublic has a great downloadable report on how to build a more relaxed and effective presentation style.
