I couldn’t have said it better! Thomas Pierce really let us have it on this one. When I first discovered this technique, I had a sinking sensation it would be spam. I too have been frustrated when trying to research subjects on the Blogoshpere. As you may already suspect, being in the Underachiever Mastery program, this is a very powerful tool especially to weed out the niches but now it’s harder and harder to do so.

But that is not all. I think Thomas really hit it on the head when he talked about how some marketers don’t understand how blogging (and pinging) really works.
Pierce says:

What different about blog and ping is that these tools aren’t targeting the “technology” of blogging and pinging for Google rankings. They are having and negative affect on the “people” component of blogging. They don’t understand that the technology does not stand alone. It is in fact a synergy between people. Blog technology extends socialization into the digitil first person form. In essense I blog, therefor I am or my blog sn an extension of me. So these tools aren’t just exploiting technology which may not be seen as evil. They are in affect stepping into a conduit of conversations with results that are akin to someone just rudely interrupting your conversation. When you block or clog the communication of others that will cause problems. Blog and ping marketers and users will eventually learn the social side of blogging.
