Simple Event Calendar Turns Into Nightmare

When a client asked me to get a calendar going for their membership site, I thought, “oh yeah sure no problem. Easy peasy”. But little did I know what a nightmare it turned out to be. The calendar needs to work on regular html pages (no problem there) and WordPress sidebar. No problem either right?

But WordPress would not let me include any of the calendar files, citing Open_basedir problems but that can’t be because open_basedir is set up properly and no such errors appear anywhere in other pages php, html or otherwise.

I’m thinking it’s something within WordPress that is causing this but haven’t had time to investigate this in detail. It also could be the server – this is why I so prefer to go with a fully managed dedicated or VPS host. Makes life easier rather having to dig through all that stuff. I’m going to try an alternative method. But if anyone has encountered a similar challenge and successfully solved it, let me know how you did it.
