RSS To Email

In my RSS Basics report I mentioned the services that allow you to send an email to subscribers each time your feed is updated. There are many new services since I wrote the report and that wasn’t long ago. Anyway, just wanted to let you know Aweber the popular autoresponder service now has this feature too. Why do you want to offer both?

For one – people are more email savvy than RSS. Most Internet users will say ‘huh?’ when you tell them about RSS. But when you tell them about email, they know what it is and despite the complaints about spam and nasty phishing emails, some people still prefer email. By offering both, you satisfy RSS lovers and email lovers. If you don’t, then you could be missing out on one group and studies have indicated that RSS readers tend to have better purchasing power and spend online. Certainly a group you don’t want to ignore.

Secondly, you won’t have to do double work. Now you can publish, archive and email your newsletters using a blog all at one go and that my friend, is sweet.

Anyway, AWeber is not the only company offering this, you can get free accounts from FeedBlitz.com or Mailbucket.org but I like AWeber because that way you can also build other newsletters not dependent upon RSS.

What about the other way around? What if you want to create an RSS feed from your newsletters? Guess what? Aweber does that too ;-).
