Producteev A Quick Review

Is it just me or is there always something new, exciting and so so shiny in the task and project management space? I always love checking these tools out and I don’t know why I just can’t seem to stick to one system yet. Perhaps it is because none of them have really fit me like a glove.

That doesn’t mean I haven’t found one I like. For almost a year I have been using ManyMoon and it is perhaps one of my longest standing project management tool. A huge reason I chose it is because of GoogleApps integration. There are lots and lots of things I like about ManyMoon. I really don’t have reason to change. There are some things I wished it had like an Android app and less clicking on the interface. None of which are deal breakers.

Then, I checked out Astrid. A task management tool for Android and found that it is pretty neat indeed. They introduced me to Producteev to sync with it and now I am evaluating Producteev. Here are the things I like about it so far:

  • The neat interface with colorful labels – yeah I am a color person they really help me associate tasks to people or projects
  • Easy adding, checking off of tasks
  • Integration with GoogleApps
  • Reminders I like that it can be set to bug me
  • Easily assign a task to someone else
  • An ‘open’ infrastructure that allows me to use it in a way that really suits me

What I think is lacking

No templates – this is one of the things I absolutely love about ManyMoon. I can create project templates e.g. Product Launch and immediately load up the common ‘to-dos’ so I don’t have to keep re-thinking them. This is a huge must have for me.

Completed tasks are not hidden immediately strangely. They do fall off your list the next day but not quite ideal. So if I had been really productive and crossed off a bunch of tasks, I don’t get the satisfaction of seeing them drop off my list. It may sound like a trivial thing. For me, it really gives me satisfaction to see a shortened to do list instead of a cluttered list even if most of the items are crossed off.

Despite all this, I am still very attracted to Producteev. For some reason, I cannot see it as a full fledged project management tool with milestones and sub-tasks etc. I get all those features in ManyMoon but not the better user interface that Producteev gives me.

What about you? What have you found that suits you best?

    Hi,

I’d love to see a quick review of Apollo here too: http://www.apollohq.com
If you need anything, let us know!
We worked really hard to unify project management and CRM: Apollo includes cases&deals, timers, a great calendar, and it’s all AJAX!

    Thanks,

    Merc.
