New: Video Tutorial Center

Over a year ago, I started adding some of my recorded video tutorials on YouTube. It really wasn’t a conscious marketing decision. I knew YouTube had unparalleled viewership and somehow that could trickle down to this site. Besides, so many marketers were touting the use of YouTube as part of their marketing mix. I was honestly too busy to even dive into all that. But thought I’d experiment anyhow. For a long time, nothing much happened – naturally because I wasn’t working it.Video

Then, one videos caught the attention of Lifehacker – that was a lucky break for me. Following that, the Google Docs team contacted me about the video, posting it on their official blog – another super lucky break for me. Since then, that has been the most popular video on my channel and probably the one video that generates most of my YouTube subscribers. Throughout all that, I redesigned the site, merged two WordPresses into one and made plans to add a video tutorial section.

It’s been a while since that seed was planted in my head. A few weeks ago, I was invited to apply to display Adsense on one of the videos and the subscriber count has jumped – I still don’t have a huge following as some but there is definitely a jump percentage wise. With the ideas from our weekly tech support session, I hope to generate more videos to put up. There’s actually more on my hard drive. I just need to get them up there. I am definitely going to be paying more attention to my YouTube Channel in 2010. Not saying that’s where my focus would be but it will be roped into my overall promotional mix more often.

With all that said, let me introduce a brand new section on this site dedicated just to video tutorials. Enjoy them and keep your eye on that page or this blog for more.
