MP3 Recording On The Go

Following up to the previous entry about a portable MP3 recording solution, there is another highly recommended option – the Edirol R-1. But if you’re not sure how far you’re going to take your podcasting venture, the Edirol would be a very expensive investment — the last check on Froogle prices start at $400 but if you’re already podcasting regularly and foresee this will be a good long term venture then this would be something you’d want to look into. I’m listening to Ed Dale of Underachiever Mastery’s 2nd podcast and he’s using the Edirol.

But seriously consider the iRiver especially starting out – if you want to be convinced of the sound quality, listen to Adam Curry’s Strategy Cast scroll down to the April 29th entry and also take a look at the picture! It’s kinda funny. If you don’t see the picture, you won’t believe that show came out of the iRiver with the help of a tiny $14.99 Griffin microphone (you can even get it cheaper if you shop around) Way cool.

Update: People have asked me which iRiver was being used. If memory serves me well it is the iRiver iFP 799T. Overall, iRiver units have been reported to have excellent recording quality.
