How’d You Do That?

Apps obsessionCJ (who works our help desk) received 2 emails within 2 days asking me the same thing.

How did you get an email to send out automatically after someone comments on your blog? Will you share it?

Of course! But before that, thanks to Carrie and Marie for asking – and commenting! I relish all comments and appreciate every single one – except spam of course. Eeewww.

comment relish wordpress pluginThe plugin I use is Comment Relish by Justin Shattuck. It is pretty old and I’m not sure it’s supported anymore but I am running the latest WordPress and it still works at time of writing.

What I like about this is the auto email thanks of course but better, the ability to customize this message.

In fact, this message just reminded me it is probably time to change the message. You can download the plugin from Justin’s site.

I tried comment relish a while back and it messed up my whole blog, I’m wondering if maybe they’ve got an updated version now or maybe the plugin wasn’t compatible with the version I was using. anyway, good to hear it works for you 🙂

Thanks Lynette for the link love and for sharing the tip. I’m off to try it now in my blog.

    You’re most welcome ladies.

@Angela I remember you saying something like that. No idea what version it was installed on but I’ve had it on several blogs although they were version 2.1 and up with no problems. It also could be another plugin you had was clashing with this. That does happen because plugins are individually developed sometimes they don’t play nice with each other.

I did get a tad worried because I also have subscribe to comments installed which I thought was the most likely plugin to clash with Comment Relish but I’ve been lucky. Touch wood 🙂

Uh-oh, I want this but now you ladies have me scared! I’m embarrasingly clueless about how my wp blog operates. I’ll ask a VA to do this, I need an upgrade anyway.
