How To Publish ePub Books
If you didn’t already know this, eBooks come in many formats, not just PDF as most Internet marketers are used to. Recently, the ePub format has rose to the top as the choice of eBook publishers. Add on the fact that they can be read on the iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch, Nook, Sony Reader, Droid and a bunch of other eBook readers, perhaps you may be thinking of offering your eBooks in ePub format too. With that said, how do you do it? These two tools might help.
This is a desktop software that allows you to convert a bunch of different formats into ePub and other formats. It works on Windows, Mac and Linux. The software is free and is shockingly easy to use. Add your PDFs into the Calibre library, click Convert, choose the format to convert to and start. The only problem is, the result is not always the best, that is likely because we are converting from a PDF.
If you are using OpenOffice, Calibre also accepts OpenOffice Writer files. My results converting directly from OpenOffice Writer was a lot better than converting from PDF although you can expect some text not converting properly and having to adjust the original file’s formatting.
If you are using Microsoft Word, this free plugin will let you create ePubs directly from Word. I do not have Word so can’t test it out on my books and reports. As to ease of use, going by their instructions it seems to be as easy as saving the file as ePub. Can’t get easier than that. Hopefully you will get great results from this tool.
Putting it up for download
ePub files are just that – files. So you can simply upload and link to the file like you do any PDF, or any type of file online. Provide the URL to the file to your customers/readers or create a link to it. Easy peasy.
