How Readable Is Your Blog?
I found this tool last night. You put your blog URL in there, it’ll scan and do a quick calculation to tell you how readable your blog is – whether it is high school level or elementary school level etc.
Not sure what they use to score the content. I did use as similar tool for emails once that is based on the Flesch-Kincaid method. Mostly because I’m not a native English speaker. While I do read/write in it more than my friends would, the problem is, I think in 3 languages basically so… getting my message through to a predominantly North American audience is a challenge sometimes.
The lower you score on the readability is supposed to be better since they say people generally read at 8th grade level. This blog scored high school level which I’m happy with. Not certain it would be possible to make go lower because of all the technical stuff I cover. But regardless, you are the one I’m writing for not some calculator.
What do you think? How am I doing?

Great tool Lynette – thanks! And I really like the way you write and the length of your posts. Very readable and enjoyable – thanks! 🙂
How nice – I checked some sites (not blogs) and came up with Junior High, Highschool an College.
Do I have to downgrade a little? No, don’t think so as the language used is oftentimes similar to what the audience speaks (but maybe i should test it?)
Why thank you Stephanie
Tom – I don’t really know I think we should write in the same lingo as your audience speaks. But testing is good 🙂
