Now that eBooks are finally main stream (more or less), it is actually quite attractive to those of us in the online marketing space to have our books sold via sites like Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Having it all work well on readers like the Nook is of course icing on the cake.

Ok… how do you do it?

It is a lot simpler than you might think, using Barnes & Noble’s PubIt! system. Here’s a quick run down of the steps:

1. Sign up at the Barnes & Noble PubIt! site
2. If you have an account already with B & N you can use that same login too but you need to accept their terms and all that good stuff
3. Be prepared to enter your bank routing information, social security or EIN numbers before you can complete your registration
4. Once in, you can start right away B & N will ask for information like:
5. The book title, description, author bio, keywords, category the book fits into, price, publication date, publisher information, cover images, if the book is in public domain, the age group for the book, language, where to distribute the book, encryption and even editorial reviews.
6. Make sure you also have your book ready. They take DOC, DOCX, HTML, RTF and TXT and ePub. I simply prefer to use the ePub format so I can get it right straight away since ePub is what the Nook and B&N uses.
7. Once you’re done getting that information entered you can hit one button and submit for publishing. If not, you can also save your information and come back later. The nice thing is you can publish several titles in that one account and have multiple books going.

That’s it. Of course you can expect an approval process where they figure out if they are OK selling your book in their space. Overall straight forward and easy.
