How Do People Subscribe To My RSS Feed?

This is an interesting question that frequently comes up. I have so much to say about it but for now I’ll reserve my comments and just answer the question. First thing to know, when you click on an RSS feed, you’ll get a page full of mumbo jumbo code. It’s not broke, it’s not ugly (well maybe it is). That’s the way it is.

If you’re using Blogger.com, you’ll find a more attractive page but well… it looks like a web page which confuses people further because they think it’s like email subscription where you complete a form and send off some information and you get something back.

For someone to subscribe to your feed, they need a feed reader or aggregator. This can be desktop or web based. They would then copy and paste the URL of that feed into their RSS feed reader. Kinda like bookmarking a website and that’s it. From now on, that person will be notified each time you make a new blog entry. And that my friends is how people subsribe to your RSS feed.

P/S: If you have this question, and want to market utilizing RSS I urge you to be an RSS subscriber yourself. Once you do, a lot of questions start to clear up and you will also start having new ideas. Try our RSS reader which comes pre-installed with this blog’s feed and a few other quality feeds marketers will find useful, add your own feeds and just experience it.

    Hello Lynette

I have just downloaded your RSS reader. It is a good reader, working about 20% faster than the one I am using.

The pre-installed feeds are interesting and useful.

    Thanks Lynette.
