Dad got himself a brand new laptop this week. While he may not be super tech savvy, he does very well for a 70+ year old man. But as you can imagine he needs plenty of help, usually the help required is simple but today he stumped me. 
Apparently YouTube and Gmail was slow as molasses and often ended up in blank page. Now I use Firefox 3.5 too but experience no such thing. Odd.
After running through the regular checkpoints – firewall, network, refresh cache and not working, I figured it had to be add-on related especially since these sites load beautifully on IE. Turns out, it was the Skype plugin.
After uninstalling the Skype plugin – which he never uses anyway, Gmail and YouTube came right up.
