Did Google Make It Easier To Report Content Thieves?
One of the things that sticks in my craw is finding my content on somebody else’s site because they were too lazy and un-original to write their own content and prefer to scrape from my RSS feed without my permission. Some of them are mild taking only snippets with a read further link. Still not wild about it but I’ll let you slide. Others are not so polite. Sometimes you could find an entire site built on your content exclusively GRRRR.
Generally I don’t worry about these too much. First to publish still carries weight I am told. Besides. I’m just too darn busy – that’s what these folks are counting on. But on occasion, it is nice to feel like you are able to do something about it. You could do a little research and find their web host then report them to the host. I don’t put a lot of faith in that.
You could also report them to the big G. Google recently updated their spam report page too. You now have 8 different options and with each selection you get to drill down in detail.
Out of curiosity, I clicked on the Copyright and other legal issues and am presented with a bunch of options. I won’t go into detail each option as you can try it for yourself, but one option that would work is the one that says “I have found content that may violate my copyright”
Not sure how effective it would be. Guess you could try it when someone gets you riled up about it and I hope you share your experience with us in the comments below.
