Demos Win People Over

Have you ever been convinced by a late night infomercial? Or Maybe you just watched Home Shopping Network on TV and thought hey look at that thing do whatever. Looks like it works very well I think I’ll order it.

I’m not bashful to admit I’ve been swayed many times. I sometimes buy things I’ve no intention of buying. The big idea here is, could video help you sell especially on eBay? I believe it can. Very often when looking at an item I find myself wishing there were more and better pictures of the product. But pictures sometimes don’t to a product justice especially if it is an electronic item, or something that’s a little complex. When people look at a listing that only has one tiny picture, they have to ‘guess’ the rest of the item like the size and how well it works. To a customer, guess work equates to risk and if the perceived risk is higher, they might not buy from you. If you can show it to them on a video wouldn’t that take away some of their perceived risk?

I found a free video service just for ebayers. You can even check out the sample listings and watch how others have used video. The only problem I have with their service is, it won’t work on Firefox (the browser) but otherwise, worth looking into. http://www.auctionplayer.com/

Pretty cool. I also have been using auctionplayer.com I think of it as being able to put a tv commercial in every one of my listings. Best of all they sell for me even while Im sleeping. It seems like they should be charging money for this service. But Im glad there not.

FYI, it looks like the folks AuctionPlayer must have read your post. I *accidentally* used FireFox the other day to post my video to eBay and it worked flawlessly! ๐Ÿ™‚

I used firefox on auctionplayer.com and it works fine. Some of the buzz about auctionplayer is that they are going to start adding other free ebay enhancements like Sniping tools, an auction listing platform and templates.
Great job your doing here Lynette,
