Can You Recommend An Email Marketing Service?
Q: I get a lot of email (spam) which is reasonable, when they want to sell their product/service. I too would also like to inform others by email; please could you recommend a reputable email service which would send out my offer for me. I paid for one service, and nothing was sent out (at all) also, I am very wary of the hugh distribution claims made now by most of the email advertisers. Please could you recommend a genuine, trustworthy and reasonably priced email service, thank
you.
A: Well, the first thing is, don’t be a spammer! From your question, I take it you want to send emails to people on a list that is not yours… like newsletter advertising? I have little experience with those and can’t recommend anyone. The best thing you can do for your business is to build your own list. That means, a list where you collect emails and names from your own website or by advertising your website. Here’s a great write up why
you should build your own list.

Hey! I want to make sure you know what you're getting here. In addition to the guide, you will also receive our memo that includes special offers, announcements and of course actionable information.
No reputable email marketing provider will send messages out for you if you don’t have a permission-based opt-in list. There are many disreputable companies who will. You should never send unsolicited email. That’s rule one. But, be wary as well of players who tell you that they’ll send it out for you regardless of where you acquired your list.
You can rent opt-in email lists that are related to your industry. You should contact DMNews.com to find out about how to acquire a legitimate opt-in list. Of course, it isn’t free, and you will pay for it.
After acquiring an opt-in email list, you then have to figure out how to distribute your message to that list. There are basically two options. You can buy a desktop bulk email application (like GroupMail) or you can have your message sent by a web-hosted email service (like Constant Contact).
