So! Have you tested out the new WordPress 2.5 yet? Lots of cool stuff. As you probably already know or heard from the grape vines, the interface is totally re-worked. It’ll take some getting used to for sure. Some good some bad of course, but I’ll probably revisit that later.
Right now, I just wanted to share this important thing I found out… before I forget that is.
WordPress 2.5 comes with some mighty cool features. One which I am uber happy about is the automatic plugin upgrade. As one who maintains blogs WordPress sites for others, upgrading plugins manually is a major PITB.
Imagine my disappointment when I tried to do the automatic upgrade but couldn’t. This crazy error came up
Cannot redeclare pclziputilpathreduction()
Ugh! So maybe it was a server problem I figured. But quickly found out there is a conflict with the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin (this is the one that upgrades your WordPress – not the plugins) with one click. So here’s what I did.
- Temporarily disabled the WPAU plugin
- Upgraded all the plugins automatically including WPAU
- Turned WPAU back on and voila! Plugin upgrades worked like a charm.
I believe WPAU already released a fix for this so if you’re running the latest version you may not run into this problem. In case you do… here’s your possible solution.
