Article Directories Dead

Business BloggingProbably not. I don’t think articles and free content will ever be out of fashion. Just wanted to send out a quick reminder to you that all those articles you’ve written in the past can be re-purposed for blogs.

How? Well, one thing you can do is update them, re-write parts of them and post them to your own blog. After re-writing, you can also scope out good blogs in your niche and ask if they are willing to accept some guest posts from you.

While you’re digging into those articles, look into your audio or video files. Talking about that, consider too if some podcasts are willing to take on your audio as a guest segment on their podcast.

Great post, Lynette. I also find that articles can be repurposed as ebooks or ecourses. There are a lot of ways to leverage them.

Lynette, your short(nice) and clear posts are always packed with great info and a pleasure to read. The tips are clear and easy enough to follow through with.

    Lynette,

Would re-cycling articles as blog posts be considered duplicate content by search engines? You’d have to re-write a significant amount of each article?

Also, there’s some articles “out there” I wished I had not written, or re-written before getting into circulation!

Tom, I think the re-write would need to be done. How substantial, I’ll leave for the SEO big guys to advise. But sometimes recycling doesn’t mean changing words or one or two paragraphs.

For example, I guest blog on several blogs. I’ve never copied, pasted and changed word/sentences on every blog. But, I have taken the general idea of an older article or older post and completely re-done.

For me, it is easier to expand on or completely re-write something I wrote before than it is to change words and sentences. The article word for word is different, but the point of the article is the same. As far as the search engines are concerned, they won’t see it as the same though humans may. But that’s OK because I am able to reach different audiences on each of those blogs.
