Since I’m the designated grocery shopper in the family, it is natural that I try to save as much money as possible. One way is by coupons. As a ‘tech based’ marketer, I was also very excited to see electronic coupons offered. Here’s how it works.

You visit Shortcuts.com, register and link up your store card to the account. Then you simply select the coupon you want. The info is stored into your store card account. So next time you visit the store and purchase a qualifying product, the coupon is automatically applied to the order. Great convenience for the consumer and I bet it is a lot beneficial for the manufacturers too. Less coupon fraud.
I don’t know how effective this is from a marketing point of view but as a regular visitor of coupon forums, it seems women do take advantage of it. On the surface this is a great example of using an existing network/data system (the store’s card), technology offered through the Internet and mixing all that into marketing.
