So Easy We Almost Always Forget About It
This is a mid year reminder to…
It is time to update your autoresponder.
This reminder came right in the middle of subscribing to a list that I [had] to get on. You see, I missed the launch of a software I have been waiting for.
The web page indicated the launch is over and the product is no longer available. But I figured, maybe there’s info behind the opt-in or in the autoresponder that may tell me about their plans when they will re-open or put me on their wait list or something.
What I received instead was a thank you page that did not tell me anything of that sort. That’s alright, I can overlook that. When the first autoresponder message came through, it said in the subject line…
[Insert product name] You’re In
Hmm… maybe I did miss something on the thank you page. So I open the email but sadly realized the message is out dated. Asking me to mark my calendar for a date that’s already past and the link was also useless.
Updating our autoresponder messages is such an easy thing to do but it’s also awfully easy to forget about it. Maybe because we’ve more or less been conditioned to think we can ‘set it and forget it’. Technology like the autoresponder is awesome, but it also means you need to look over it once in a while. Even the best machines need calibrating. So – let this be our (yours and mine) reminder to update our messages soon –
very soon – like… put it your to do list right now.
