What To Do With 6 Year Old Site
Time for our weekly help desk column.
Hi Lynette, My website is www.create-a-mural.com I started it about 6 years age is doing well. I am having a problem with understanding how to address: Todays internet marking with an older website.
1-Adding “Bookmark with the little icons
2-I have 2 different providers for my website & my email list making them flow better.
3-Adding a blog (rss feed?) -Do you do business consultation? – Camille
Heya Camille,
What fun and lovely murals. Your site is a classic online store and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. What you need is not to add all these bookmarks to the site because when people are there, you want them to focus on buying.
But I do see where having a blog to compliment the site would be very beneficial. There are so many things to blog about in your line. You can share ideas, talk about what your customers have done, provide a place for you to show off pictures of your customer’s results, create a dialog with those who love murals or want to put up murals and eventually drawing them into the store. This is where you’d normally put the bookmark links. So, yes, I highly recommend you create a blog on your site.
I am pretty booked up and not taking consults now. But if you need help setting up a blog, the Blogging Starter Pack is ideal. It’ll take you by the hand to get your blog set up and running and then some.
RSS feeds come attached with your blog when you set them up. It’s just a way for people to subscribe to your latest blog entries. To learn more about RSS, you can download RSS Basics. It is available after you sign up for my email newsletter – see top left corner of this blog.
I’m not sure what your question is about the email list. But it does seem strange to me why you would need two email list providers. Maybe there are limitations to one of them. If you’d like to expand on that in the comments I’ll have a better answer for you.
