The One Button You Must Push
Have you ever seen that iPhone commercial? The one where it asks, “All this time, you’ve gone without email in your pocket all day…. without the Internet in your pocket all day…” and ends with “The question is, how?”
Hmm… good question. Just how do we get along without the Internet in our pocket all day?
I think, we got along just fine. Probably were a lot happier too.
When we didn’t have all these gadgets that are with us 24/7 every single day, we had a lot more down time. If we were out for lunch, that’s it. We’d call people after lunch and deal with that email after we’ve had a break.
But now, with smartphones “in our pockets” all day long, it just seems like the pressure to do something never stops. The tool is there in your pocket after all, nagging and beeping at you all the time. “Why aren’t you responding to that email?”, “Remember you have to checkout that website”, “Oh, you need to research that”.
I love, love, love my electronic toys. But you know something? We can have them. They are perfectly OK. But better personal discipline will be required. We just need to start pushing that power off button a whole lot more. Otherwise, we’d have a work day that lasts 7 days.
Are you really disciplined when it comes to your gadgets? Or are you struggling to turn that darn phone off everyday?

Hey Carrie! My one weakness is my Palm TX but it is not a phone. Still, it is very powerful and can do tons of things so the temptation is always there.
Lately, I’ve been wondering if I should get a smartphone or an iPhone but the more I think about it, not is probably better for my sanity.
Right now, if I am away from home, I can’t get online and my phone is not web enabled – I’m too cheap to pay for Internet 😉 this should be a positive. But sometimes so hard to resist! Well if I succumb, you guy and gals will know.
