My wonderful friend and partner Kelly McCausey has killed off a pretty big forum over at MomsTalkNetwork. In her Twitter, she was asking for opinions if this should be killed or not and before you know it, it’s gone!
MomsTalkNetwork is one I had helped the founding owners Alice Seba and Mila Sidman set up. In a way it’s kinda sad for me but it’s never quite been a home for me. So, I do breathe a sigh of relief – one less distraction.
Kelly Twittered ” We’d rather comment on each others blogs and twitter than post on a mom forum” . I think that is so true. Social networks really have changed the scene of ‘networking’.
Now, I’m not saying forums don’t have a place at all. I still run a private and reasonably active forum for a small group of women (and a handful of men). The forum has nothing to do with Internet marketing or business. But I doubt that forum will go away in the near future simply because our members are not the social network type and we have members all around the world. So a forum makes sense. Also, they actually have a life outside of the Internet – imagine that!
I’d like to know your thoughts on this. What do you prefer? Do you think forums are dying for certain groups?
