Useful Sorting Tip For Gmail
One of the things about Gmail is, you gotta re-wire your brain a little to really get the most out of it. For example, most of us are familiar with the columns in our email readers. There are subject columns, sender, read, unread, date etc. We’re used to clicking the header of these columns and the software sorts in order we want. Most email readers work this way.
Lately I had to quickly pull up all my unread emails in Gmail to process them and I couldn’t find a way to do it. Then I found the answer – why it’s using search of course. That’s what the big G does best don’t they? If you type is:unread in the search box and hit search mail, you’ll pull up all the unread messages in your in box.
Also, if you want to sort (filter is a better word really) emails within a certain label, you’d type label:labelname keyword. There are a lot of very useful search operators for Gmail and you can find them here.
