Posting this here so I can find it later :). So, it’s not an endorsement or recommendation or anything of that sort. Here goes: Software Defender is yet another software protection system that allows you to create licenses for each copy you sell. Monthly subscription model.
It’s supposed to be able to protect other files too. From their website,
you can protect any file, including your Word DOC files, PDF, music, pictures, anything! So you can make perfect use of Software Defender no matter if you are software developer, Internet marketer, artist or writer
I think software wise – it’s expected to have some kind of license/protection system, but when people encounter books, music etc that requires them to enter a license to use, it becomes annoying. Besides, if you have a PDF or an MP3, anytime you protect it, you’ll be making it into an executable file. Which means – your cross platform product suddenly became Windows only. That’s not very cool.
