Internet Explorer 7 Upgrade Mini Review
Out of curiosity and also just to stay on top of the latest stuff, I installed Internet Explorer 7. I’ve been such a happy user of FireFox for 3 years now that I was pretty sure IE7 could not impress me. Was I wrong? So far, yes. I’m pleasantly surprised I do like it. Tabbed browsing is one thing I must have in a browser and so far the tabbed browsing behaves nicely, including on the popups. I also liked the in built search feature – just like Firefox, it allows you direct access to several searches on the top
right corner.
One of the biggest reasons I downloaded it is because of the Anti-Phishing feature. Some time last month, I mentioned this feature in the new browsers and how it could be a cause for concern for businesses. I wanted to see how it works and how my sites fared. As of today, all is well. I suspect that has a lot to do with the database being new. For now, this is something you should be checking
on every now and then. Oh and one thing I noticed, Turning on phishing check slows down the loading time considerably – kinda expected there but it’s very slow on some sites.
