Help! How To Set Up A Web Page
A: I’ve discovered multiple ways to make money on line, and there’s nothing I can do about it. I don’t know how to set up a web page. I hear alot about web hosts, yet I still don’t know what that is or where to get a host. Can you please explain step by step how to set up a web page?
Q: I’m sorry you are having trouble getting started. Building a web page though not rocket science does have a learning curve especially if you’re doing it yourself. While I’ll always encourage people to learn at least some basic web page building skills, it also depends if you want to earn money quickly and willing to spend a bit or you’re on a tight budget. If your goal is to make money as soon as possible and don’t mind putting out some outlay, get someone to set up your web page for you.
Assuming you want to DIY, here goes.
But let’s get a few things down. A web host is simply a place to store and serve your web pages. They will not build it for you but many will provide you with tools you will need to build the pages. Think of them like a fulfillment warehouse. You build the product, send it over to them, they will take the orders and requests and deliver to the requester. Of course online, all that happens very quickly within a split second.
There are many ways for you to set up simple web page or web site. For someone completely new, I recommend a site builder. These are all in one solutions and very easy to use. If you can surf the Internet, you can do this. Many of them work a lot like a word processor. Type, name your file and save. Voila! You have a web page. There is no need to concern yourself with web hosts on these services. One such system I highly recommend is Internet
Based Family. You can even try it for free.
If you’ve got a bit more time, are somewhat adventurous, don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty, you may want to set up your web page using more ‘traditional’ methods. This means learning *some* HTML, using tools like FrontPage, XSitePro and getting a web host to serve your pages after you built them using these tools.
This method is more flexible in the sense when you grow, you have very few limitations compared to site builders. But honestly, you probably won’t find site builders very limiting unless you’ve built web pages and done Internet marketing for a little while.
Traditional ways of setting up web pages require a longer time to learn but the skills you learn now will be handy years down the road. So there’s always a small amount of ‘sacrifice’ to each method. If this appeals to you, I recommend How To Create A Web Site In 5 Days by Bina Omar. It comes with step by step instructions and video tutorials to boot so you won’t get lost in a sea of words. Alternatively, a quick
search will also produce some great help tutorials.
