Autoreponsponders and Purchased Lists – How?
Q: I have joined an MLM and I want to use an autoresponder to send info to lists of opportunity seekers which I purchased. How do I do this? I have an apple computer, so I need something compatible.
The first problem I see is the purchased list. I use Aweber, a third party autoresponder service.
Unfortunately, they and most other autoresponder services have a very strict policy on list imports, especially lists that are purchased. Most do not allow purchased leads import period.
So, the only other way I see for you is to purchase an autoresponder script to install on your own web site. It will be web based so your OS doesn’t matter. But there are some cons to that as well. Here’s an article I wrote that with more detail about email list software and autoresponders.
Having said all the technical parts, let’s get on the marketing aspect. I highly encourage you to start building your own list instead. Purchased email leads from my point of view are like ticking time bombs. You don’t know where the leads come from and now you have this technical problem – you can’t import it. Furthermore, it’s so easy for people to report your mailing as spam. Even with my lists, I have people reporting my emails as spam even though I’ve clearly informed them they will receive update communications once a week and not to subscribe if they can’t take it. The thing is, people forget and when going down the long list of emails every morning, it’s easy to also accidently flag emails as spam. I’ve done it before. Expect this to be a lot worse on a purchased list.
If you take time to build your own list, people also know you. They come to your site, read your offer and say yes to you. They aren’t hearing from you from the first time wondering where they ‘met’ you. The quality of your relationship is totally different and it’s important if you want to clinch the sale be it today or 6 months later. It’s kinda like you meeting someone in a public place, you chat and mutually agree to keep in touch vs. a stranger walking up to you and saying “Hey, I want to be your friend. Call me”. And you’re going “Huh? Who are you?”
