Nobody Reads My Blog

Actually that’s not true. I know many of you do, by the occassional comments and stats (yes, I know you’re here :-)) and really appreciate all of you. I was reading this post over at my favorite ProBlogger’s blog (what a mouth full huh?) and one of the commenters mentioned how “experts” and “consultants” are pushing blogs as the be all of success and some people just aren’t suited to blogging because they have nothing to say. I do not know in what context that was supposed to be – building blogs to make money or building blogs to help your business.

I have to disagree with the comment especially for small business owners. I honestly haven’t met one who doesn’t like to just talk and share loads about what they do. Unless they really hate their business… then they shouldn’t be in the business anyhow.

Blogging for (small) business is not about succumbing to peer pressure just to say you have one – it’s kinda like the early websites. People created them just so they can tell others at mixers and put it on their business cards they have a dot com. If you do that, then your blog will most likely fail.

You have to be prepared to share and work on it. Yes share! The funny thing about sharing your expertise is – the more you do it, the more people can experience your knowledge and that can help build bridges; befriend potential customers, build that relationship which is oh so important today.
