ITunes Phone to Launch Next Week?

So… Apple, Motorola and Cingular are reported to launch the highly anticipated ITunes phone. Does this signal good news for podcasting which in turn bodes well for businesses using podcasts in their marketing mix? Maybe. It’s still way to early to tell although it hints of positivity.

The more interesting part is the bigger picture. It tells me there is demand for mobile content – hey these big companies wouldn’t spend all that resource building such a product would they? It also tells me – and this is somewhat old news – that cell phones will be leading the way in delivering mobile web content.

What is the best way to deliver mobile content? Well there are many ways but I’m putting my money in RSS. So… the bottom line for marketers is, get your RSS feeds in now, promote it, let people know you have it. Any thoughts on this?

    Hi Lynette,

This is realy cool news. As you know, I’m all over the
RSS and podcasting space. Not so much by name as by what
I do. When iTunes released version 4.9, which supported podcasting, I had a feeling they had more tricks up their sleeve.

And just so you know, there’s already a site that delivers
    podcasts to mobile phones. It’s called pod2mob.com. I didn’t
have anything to do with building it but I did have a nice
chat with the owner last week.

They saw this coming and built a delivery system. They take
in your mp3 files and reformat them for cell phones. Then a
mobile phone user can dial in and listen to podcasts.

I think this is all just amazing.
