Oh, Darren said it so well and took the words right out of my mouth. I get asked this a lot too and would really like to echo him. Blogs are really just another method of communication, a type of website. Many people get so stuck into this mindset a blog must be this way or that way or must be used for this or that.

Unless you’re using it to spam (bad bad), a blog can be anything you want it to be. Blogs do have several advantages such as pinging, rss and ease but they are not magic bullets. Taking from what I’ve learnt in Traffic Secrets, one single traffic generation method is not going to skyrocket you to success. It’s a combination of methods and tools. That’s why there is such a thing called the “marketing mix”
