If you’re using aMember and the built in affiliate program, here’s something that might interest you. Most people have a single tier affiliate program. You pretty much have to if you want to pay affiliates using PayPal because they frown upon multi-tier affiliate programs.

So, you very likely have the 2nd tier setting in the admin area to blank or 0. Depending on which version you have, this doesn’t turn off the 2nd tier. So if A refers B and the buyer buys from B, A could get an email to say there was a sale but $0 sale which is confusing to the affiliates and also rather problematic to explain to the affiliate who received the $0 email. Most will understand but I really hate such things because it plants the seed of suspicion in the affiliate’s mind.

If you have an older version prior to 3.1.6 the problem probably exists on your copy of the software. You can either update or, ask aMember to apply the fix for you.
