MailWasher Pro is a desktop software that will help you quickly sort out spam messages before downloading to your computer. Here’s how it works. You check messages using MailWasher Pro. It’ll automatically check your inbox content and compare your mail with their spam database. If the email is suspected or hits a match in the database, it’ll highlight those messages in red to ‘flag’ them for you.

You can also mark messages as good or put them in your white list in case of false positives. I used this because I can filter emails right from the server. Even though your email reader has some of this capability but very often the emails are downloaded onto your computer first and then scanned. To me, this is too late. I don’t want any suspicious email to ever touch my computer. Period. That’s why checking at server level, before downloading to the computer is so important to me.
