7 Ways To Create Recurring Income

If you sit and think about it, the recurring income model has been around for a long time, way before the Internet. People were selling diet foods, panty hose, books, recipes, greeting cards and much more on an automatic shipment with monthly payment basis. If you’re thinking about creating some kind of recurring income, think beyond the normal Internet Marketer’s definitions of a membership site i.e. monthly packs or resources.

RepeatingThese 7 ideas should jump start your brain storming process.

Sell credits or points. Members pay monthly for a set amount of credits or points which can they can then use to redeem whatever resources in your downloads page or catalog. The key here though is to begin with a well stocked catalog or you’ll find people running out of resources to spend their points on.

Sell packaged hours. Works great for service providers. You can also tweak it to include a set number of tasks instead of hours since time is a very limited.

Sell ads. Not quite a trail blazing idea here but if you could begin a subscription instead of getting people to buy a on a month to month basis that could cut down some work too.

Sell access to archives. If you have a lot of evergreen material, this is a great way to re-purpose your content. Great examples I can think of are spiritual leaders, or self help consultants who regularly record their interviews. Instead of selling piecemeal DVD’s, sermons and interviews can be re-released as fixed term memberships or annual memberships.

Sell certification. If you have a system or method to verify someone’s expertise or status, this could be an easier way to build recurring income. Great examples are security seals and training certification.

Distribution rights. Maybe you have created a special software, special ‘system’ or even course. You may not want to sell outright PLR because the content or software needs money to be continually added to and expanded upon. You could sell distribution rights to the software/system/course for as long as their membership is active.

Priority support or customer service. This is often practiced by freemium services and it only make sense. Pay and you get priority service. Another way to look at it if you sell physical products is a free and priority shipping or exclusive deals club like Amazon Prime. This makes so much sense and you don’t have to create more work since you are already using your existing products/services.
