Marketing With Games
Have you thought about it? I sure have – for a looooong time. It’s one of those things I’ve been secretly watching, researching in the background close to a year now. Why? Because they can be awfully viral! Has a friend ever sent you links and tell you, you gotta check this out. You go there and it’s either a quiz or a short game or something fun. I have many times. One of the more memorable one is quiz from Dr. Phil
Games has also proven to work well for the people in the entertainment industry. I heard response was great on the pre-launch game to Steven Spielberg’s movie A.I. and recently, came accross this article on CNet, In-game ads work, study says. Granted that is more towards computer games but you don’t need to be that elaborate.
The technology today especially flash allows almost anyone to create simple quizzes you can give away. I can already see this can be a great tool for coaches. On the less high tech end, if your market is more inclined towards solving puzzles or word games you could get an inexpensive cross word software and generate puzzles to give away offline or online. If you want to make it a full blown game, you could hire a developer to do it. Lot’s of things you can do – much more interesting and engaging than a plain text ebook. Of course the strategy has to tie in cleverly with your message 😉
