Hey {!firstname_fix},

Mobile Friendly Site - Should You?

I know this is not the first time you've heard me talk about making your web sites mobile friendly. This week, this issue came back in full force when I was hired to coach a client through making a web site mobile friendly.

You can read about what I used and also a little background about my own site's on and off relationship getting it mobile ready.

There's a lot of talk about how mobile people are and so on. Question is, should you make your site mobile friendly too? Just because the technology is there doesn't mean you have to do it.

Personally, I think you need to go back to your target market. If they aren't all that mobile crazy, why waste resources? But if they are, it could be well worth your time and investment.

What if you're not sure? Then allow me to suggest some fantastic reports from Pew Internet & American Life Project. There are some seriously interesting data in the "Mobile Access to Data and Information" report.

In the report, they found that Hispanics and young adults (no surprises there) are leading the way in the use of handheld devices. As for age, you know sooner or later, the 20-somethings will become 30-somethings. So if you're kinda on the edge, why not test the waters now and prepare for the future?

Anyhow, you can find the report here

I also posted a few additional posts about my own challenge making the site mobile friendly on the blog. Plus a nice project management download. All found on my blog.
