DripIf you have a squeeze page or any email newsletter sign up. Be sure not to leak those freebies/information without truly getting a lead. It is a common mistake especially when you’re new to email marketing. Email subscription forms usually have a redirect page, more commonly referred to as a thank you page. A URL where people are sent to after they subscribe to your newsletter or opt-in on your squeeze page. It is easy to think that nobody sees this page except after they subscribe but very often, people can quickly find out your thank you page URL by simply viewing the page’s source code.

Use a Javascript sign up box and think you’re safe? Nope. All one needs to do is visit the Javascript file directly in the browser – its just plain text anyway.

So how do you make sure people really are opted-in/subscribed before they get their hands on the freebie you worked so hard to create? Don’t give it to them in the thank you page. Deliver it in your first email – often also called the welcome email.

As I am using double Optin I have the download-link on the confirmation page. Sending a file with the welcome mail caused some delivery problems to me in the past as i had a lot of bogus signups.
Have a good weekend.

Hey Tom, That’s a good way to do it. Another way is to simply send the link without actually attaching them. I’ve never attached files to thank you emails and imagine they would be a problem.

I have found a great way to stop leaky squeeze pages, provide an unannounced bonus on the confirmation page (or email) so that they need to confirm their optin to receive the bonus.

Edited to remove signature/bio: Aww dude, what a drag, I don’t allow signature lines, but the good news is, there’s already a link to your site :) ~ Lynette
