Just had one of my sites ‘taken care of’ by Google 🙁
They say it is a spam site and de-ranked it. In reality it is an Amazon niche site comparing some widgets and while still in Googles favour, I had lots of sales. As the traffic was very targeted and they found what they searched for, conversions were good and no one complained that I sent them to Amazon.

Now I barely get visitors. A few from Bing and Yahoo, but none from Google. I also setup Facebook Ads to get in front of people interested in that niche. It works.

What should I do next? Show Google my Sales Reports from Amazon to convince them that the general public (or at least a few thousand interested in my niche) have a different opinion than Google? No way. I try to get my sales back, without big G.

My opinion about them being evil: they can do with their business whatever they like. When they decide to de-rank quality sites (ecommerce, affiliates, whatever), they can do it. Someday they will hopefully recognize that there are other searchengines that offer similar quality results and have even 2 letters less in their name (faster typing and now even standard in a major browser).

I’m sorry to hear that Tom. Unfortunately, it is Google’s pot so you can either do what they want or get off. Smart of you to buy ads. I think that’s the direction most stuff is headed to and it probably won’t hurt to get used to putting out some money for ads. I used to be deathly afraid of it but now know better – also helps that I’m better at the advertising game and not lose our shirt on them.

You are right in the sense nothing is permanent. It may be hard to imagine but Google can go away if they aren’t careful. My boss used to tell me that nobody is indispensable.

Thanks for sharing..! I have read some of the linked article from your content. Well, Google did many since 2000 until now. It made many business up and down, especially I have no idea about how to make better for the change.

Honest, I am a blogger almost 4 years but I am not a good SEO bloggers. I did not get much traffic from the search engines, but I got from social media and blogging community (the referral traffic).

You know..? Google have done many change, but what the did not change is their goal. They want to be a best search engines in the would thus they tried to provided the users of quality content and related information.

So, what you have to do is natural and relevant, then you no need to change as google

I really love Google. The first thing I do when I open my browser is just stare at the Google page and wonder what I am going to research, even when the only thing I want to do is go on Facebook. I think Google is just one of those things that we love so much, we don’t ever think of not using, ever. This is just what happens when something works really well, at least from the reader’s point of view. Plus, Google is working on so many other projects that you have to love it.
