So… since this blog is all about marketing and technology you might have noticed that there has been no mention about Chrome for the first 2 weeks. What happened? Shouldn’t we be on the cutting edge?
Well… maybe. People have accused me in the past of not being ‘up to date’ enough with technology. Let me assure you, just because I don’t blog about it, doesn’t mean I don’t keep up with things. But I don’t blog about every new software and tech because I’m not in the tech news business. I am in the business of helping other entrepreneurs like you, figure out which technologies are worth investing in and what technologies best to use for certain activities.
This means I have to take time to evaluate them and ask the profound question. Is it really going to help your business or not? Now that we’ve got that out of the way, what about Google Chrome. I hesitate to say things that will be interpreted as a definite thumbs up or down forever and ever. Things change, and a year down the line I may be thinking differently.
At this point in time, these are the questions/concerns:
I downloaded Chrome out of curiosity - my default browser is Firefox 3 and I occasionally use IE or Opera for variety (and to check how pages render in them). Chrome is growing on me! In fact, I’m now using it more than Firefox. OK, it falls over from time to time, but that is to be expected so soon after launch. The recovery procedures seem to work fine and the speed is impressive. It hasn’t got all the features of my personalized Firefox, but that will change over time. I reckon it’s a winner!
I’m in love with google chrome, i use it almost exclusively now, but i agree with the privacy issue
and having to make sure my web designs work in it too. Took me a little while to hunt down the folder that it stores the temp files in, but i found it - i like to pull out the youtube videos and store them locally on my drive, gotta find out how to put them on vcd or dvd now.
Hi to you both Michaels :) I imagine I would fall in love with it soon. Still does not make me happy that I have yet one more browser to trouble shoot. And yes, my plugins. If Firebug gets ported to Chrome I’ll probably switch in a flash. Till then. Sticking with FF3 for main browsing.
