Why Paying Well And Charging Your Worth Is Rewarding

May 7th, 2008

Four hours of solid work a day may not seem like a lot to some people. For me that is actually on the high end of productivity. I suspect that is the same of many home based entrepreneurs - especially those with a family.

For the past two to three weeks, I have been spending 95% of my work time on only one clients’ project. Mostly because we are on a deadline that is fast approaching. The good part is, unlike before, I don’t mind it at all. I love it and relish the idea of helping them create a fantastic new product. So what’s different?

Because I asked for a good rate and they pay me that rate.

The net effect is, I gladly devote my time because I feel I am fairly compensated and of course to sweeten things, the client is fabulous to work with. That’s why I’ve been kinda quiet on

Small Task Grows Into Monster Project

May 5th, 2008

Crikey! How in the world did a simple task turn out into a monster project?

During the weekend, I figured I would take a few short minutes to fire up my handy WP Auto Upgrade to upgrade all my sites. I also thought, while I was add it, to do one or two tasks to secure each installation. One of the first steps was to create an inventory of all the sites, each site’s WP version, what is running on every one of them, date of last update/upgrade and who they are hosted with.

Well that sure turned into a mega project. I now am reminded I need to decide once and for all what to do with some of these sites. A few were inherited from my brother and since defunct. Some needed to be moved and traffic re-directed. Some need to be re-freshed.

Not looking forward to the work. On the other hand it also gives

Is Gmail Destroying Your Productivity?

April 29th, 2008

I love Gmail. So much that I moved my primary email to GoogleApps - which has other benefits other than email but that’s another blog post.

I love the way archives, labels and starring works. It fits in nicely with my own GTD system. I can get things done with it.

In the The 4-Hour Workweek,
Tim Ferris says to quit using web based email and use a desktop client instead or rather, a system where you have to actively click a “retrieve email” button to get your new mail. Reason, because email clients that deliver your email instantly (Web based mail and IMAP) distract you.

You could be working on replying or sending an email out when something new comes in. You feel compelled to click on it. If you are forced to click on a button, you don’t ‘know’ new mail is there and you will get what you need done, get out of there and

April 11th, 2008
Easy Press Releases

Over the years I’ve learned to overcome a number of fears in running my business. But the one thing that I cannot get over is getting out a press release. This is so odd considering I used to be study Mass Communication in college and the releases I wrote then, usually earned me praises from my teacher. Not sure why this change.

Anyhow, it seems now I have no excuses. All Press Content is handing out a whopping 40% discount on their press release packages. Forcing me to come out of my comfort zone. They are very easy fill-in-the-blank type releases and come with checklists how to get the releases out and into the right hands after you’ve written it.

If you’ve been wanting some press coverage yourself, you better grab this one too. The discount coupon only lasts till April 16th. Here’s the coupon code A40CE. Be sure to click this link to purchase and claim it.

No Need For Cut Throat Tactics

March 29th, 2008

Quick update this Saturday. Yes, I know I am not supposed to be working. But I can’t help it. After all, it is such a fantastic deal for a great cause. You probably know by now my pal Alice Seba. She started her whole Internet Marketing Sweetie empire with this one course titled… Internet Marketing Sweetie.

The whole premise about this course really is getting back to basics. Being nice, playing fair and getting ahead at the same time. No matter what you’ve been told, there’s really no need to resort to cut throat tactics to have a successful business. Especially these days… people are savvy, they will sniff you out, blog about it out loud and spread the word about you through the social network grape vines.

Well… I’m getting away from the point. The point is, the Internet Marketing Sweetie course is now free. Yay! But more importantly, when you download the course, you
