Recording Telephone Interviews
June 3rd, 2005I’ve tried so many things at this point but I’m gonna try another. Just put in my order for the Sony ECM-TL1 Electret Condenser Earphone-Style Digital Microphone. I really look forward to it because it would mean telephone recording with ‘unwired’ freedom. You can record from even a cell phone or a public phone, everything you hear. I just hope it doesn’t pick up too much ambient noise. Will report when I get it.

Just curious how this worked out for you? I recently purchased the Edirol R-1 recorder and am looking for a good phone interviewing recording solution to use with it.

Hi Anne, it works ok - don’t expect studio quality recordings though. I like the fact that it’s portable and I can record even when I’m using a cell phone and it doesn’t pick up too much background noise but for home telephone recordings I went ahead and got the Dynametric TMP-636 instead since that can also be used with my web conference room. It works wonderfully.
