I found the referenced article below courtesy of Jon Udell. Funny, I’ve been having the same problem too - hissing. At first it isn’t noticeable but I’m getting more and more unappreciative of it. Like Jon, I’m no audio expert and I’m a little disspointed to find out I may have to replace my sound card. Jon’s going to be testing recording with an external unit - it does make sense. Makes me want to whip out my credit card to buy the iRiver right this minute, but I’ll hang tight and see what he comes up with.

As I progress with my segment at WahmTalkRadio, podcasting this blog, and creating screencasts, I realize I’ve moved beyond the novice… so guess it’s time to move on up.
