iPod/MP3 Player Adoption At Tipping Point

February 27th, 2005

iPod/MP3 Player Adoption At Tipping Point. This is a good indicator for podcasting. For many podcast listeners including yours truly, the portable MP3 player is indispensible. In fact that is the only way I ever listen to any podcasts and only way I listen to recorded teleseminars and I know I’m not alone because I’ve heard people ask on calls if they can get an MP3 version for them to plug into their iPods.

What’s even more interesting are the stats (don’t you love stats?)

“iPods/MP3 players are generally gadgets for the well-to-do”

“Internet users are four times as likely as non-Internet users to have iPods/MP3 players”

“The more advanced the Internet user, the more likely it is s/he will own an iPod/MP3 player”

What do they tell you? That podcast listeners have disposable income and they are fairly comfortable if not very comfortable online which could also mean they are predisposed to buying online. Which again emphasizes my point, marketers should podcast! :-)
