Brands And Product Information Attract Blog Readers
June 2nd, 2005Brands And Product Information Attract Blog Readers
I was reading someone’s blog last night, sorry I can’t seem to trace which blog! So if you wrote about this too let me know, enter a comment or send me trackback or pingbacks ok. But the gist of it was blogs that focused on product information and brands seem to get some serious traffic. They are also reported to be quite profitable.
I have personally seen this happen in blogs my brother owns. Some of our top earning blogs are product and brand-centric. We also recently discovered locally focused blogs do very well. One of them is less than 2 months old and its already generating very good traffic and active comment participation.
So, if you’re in affiliate marketing that should give you some ideas. If not… sign up for my newsletter. I’ll share more detailed information there so you don’t have to wreck your brain ![]()

Hi Lynette,
Local podcasts and blogs, eh? I’ve owned and operated a site devoted to my county since 1999. I’ve had fun doing it but the profit margins are slim so far. I think i’ll give the local podcast a whirl!

Hey Greg, do let us know how the local podcasts do. I personally do not do one for city/county because I don’t think this county is ready for it. Yes, people use the Internet and stuff like that but for simple emailing. This will change in the future I believe but right now I do believe it depends on your locality. Bigger cities would naturally fare better than others.

Hmm, interesting topic. Lately, I’ve been reading a lot of Paris and France blogs. And, as always, food blogs. My guess is that food and cooking blogs do quite well. Do you know anything about these?

Oh I think blog topics like food, travel, life’s milestones e.g. parenting, weddings, marriage will always be ‘fashionable’ because these are things we will always do.

Yes this is a very interesting topic… I do post about a different product once a week on my blog but haven’t really watched to see if the traffic reflects it. Good to know!

Bad girl Angela!
One really quick way to find out is to simply look in your traffic logs. You’ll quickly pick out what posts has steady traffic over and over.
On another note, I recently helped my husband launch his blog and made him use these principles too and it’s awesome to see it grow. The first month he grew his traffic by something like 200%. How? Just remember, sometimes brand names are not product names
