Blog and Ping Till You Get Blacklisted
December 27th, 2005Ah… how did such beautiful words turn into something obscene in the web publishing/blogging world? Well.. let’s not get into that long drawn discussion now. I’ve always told people especially Blogging Starter Pack students that creating filler blogs and then pinging them is just going to backfire. Yet people are still doing it and the best part is, they proudly tout their favorite ping service to be Pingoat. Well… I’ve got news for you.
Did you know, Pingoat automatically scans your pings and runs it through their own algorithms (for a lack of a better word) and if your blogs add up some bad points, you will be blacklisted automatically? Yup, it’s true. I tested it
and it’s quite strict too. If you publish a lot of free articles you take from article directories, it’s a good chance you’ll end up there too. And that’s not all, they are using that information to build a spam blog directory so to speak.
I think this is an indication of what is in store for splogs (spam blogs) in 2006 and beyond. So quit wasting your time on those stuff and start writing quality blogs.
